The Coulthard Shield is a trophy we named in an earlier episode of our podcast and awarded to the team with the highest score of the season (including finals).
Naming of the shield
The shield is named after George Coulthard, a Carlton champion of the 1870’s. He was a 3× VFA leading goal-kicker: 1878, 1879, 1880, and a natural choice for the shield to be named after.
Coulthard was also a 3 time winner of the fictional "CC.Mullen Champion of the Colony award" in 1876, 1877, 1897.
